Training Announcement

The New York State Office of Homeland Security is offering an EMS Operations and Planning for WMD Incidents class (PER – 211). The class will be held from 8:00AM to 5:00PM on June 9, 10 & 11 at the New York State Preparedness Training Center located at 5900 Airport Boulevard in Oriskany. EMS Response to Taser Incidents 
March 31, 2008
The Midstate REMAC has issued a policy regarding EMS responses to patients that have been exposed to a conducted energy device "taser". This policy includes 1. Confirm scene safety 2. Assess for medical conditions and treat according to NYS BLS and Midstate ALS protocols. 3. Do not remove barbs embedded in the patient. 4. All Patients must be transported to an ED for evaluation by a Physician.

Basic ECG and 12 Lead Classes 
March 20, 2008
Faxton-St. Luke's EMS Education will be hosting a series of Rhythm Interpretation (Basic ECG) and 12 Lead classes. Jason Dardano, AEMT-P from WAVES Ambulance in Syracuse will be the instructor for these sessions. The dates and times are as follows: (1) Basic ECG Interpretation, Wednesday, March 26, 6:00PM - 10:00PM, (2) 12 Lead Interpretation, Saturday, April 26, 9:00AM - 4:00PM (3) Basic ECG Interpretation, Wednesday, May 21, 6:00PM - 10:00PM. A $10.00 Registration Fee will be charged and pre-registration is required by calling 315-624-4508. Certificates will be issued for these programs.
